A poem for those who love and those who grieve...

Undefined

what we feel

is not always

what we can

understand…

our hearts can

carry grief that

seems to defy

logic and seems

to take on a life

of its own inside

of us while we

try to carry on

and let our minds

search for a way

to get through

each new day

what we feel

is not always

what we can

understand…

our hearts can

carry love that

seems to defy

logic and seems

to forget that we

are not ones who

know how to

fit in the places

our hearts lead us to

and our minds

tempt us to

leave before

our hearts can

break

and when we try to

think our way through

the grief or the love

the sorrow or the joy

we are left with

a confusing jumble of

wonder in our minds

and an unclear

journey our hearts

call us to complete

we cannot leave

behind our wisdom

but we cannot journey

with our minds alone

because we cannot

think our way out of grief

for it is love

that will heal our hearts

and we cannot define love

with our minds alone

or we would never

stretch our hearts

to find the friends

that make life

a place where

love dances with joy

and peace nestles in

our souls…
